The Airport Group is proud to have been awarded the 2013 Corporate Project of the Year at the Australian Airports Association National Awards in Darwin for the Brisbane Airport Prescribed Airspace Project. As part of its 2014 Master Plan development, Brisbane Airport pro-actively sought to permanently establish, under legislative control, the necessary protective instruments to ensure all future operational expansion opportunities can be fully realised. With that target, TAG worked to provide the necessary airspace volume definitions of the Brisbane Airport protection surfaces, as described in the Airports Act 1996, Airports (Protection of Airspace) Regulations.
Coordination for the project required direct consultation with various authorities including the ASA Procedure Design Section, ATC and Engineering Services, CASA Standards Division, DoIT, GE Aviation, Airlines and Local Government stakeholders.
Principally we would like to thank the team at Brisbane Airport Corporation, particularly Mr Mark Willey, Manager Airport Planning, and Mr Dilip Mathew, Director Aerodrome Precincts from Department of Infrastructure and Transport. Their initiative, persistence and constructive consultation has been essential in completing this landmark project.
Truly a wonderful result for Brisbane Airport and the air travelling community of Brisbane.
