Project: Melbourne Airport 3D Airspace Assessment Modeling

Client: Australia Pacific Airports Pty Ltd. (Melbourne Airport) “APA Pty Ltd”.

In late 2017, The Airport Group (TAG) was engaged by Australia Pacific Airports Pty Ltd (APA) to provide airspace assessment models for Melbourne Tullamarine Airport, the second busiest airport in Australia.

TAG produced combined PANS-OPS, OLS and other relevant surface models which have allowed APA to conduct their own in-house obstacle assessments. TAG produced models for existing and two future configurations to protect airspace for future expansion. TAG delivered the following to APA:

  • 3D models to integrate into client own GIS airspace model including contours to 1m.
  • Combined PANS-OPS, OLS Drawings for existing and two future conditions.
  • Provision of specific in-house training for staff to conduct airspace assessments.

The models were produced by the TAGs in house team of airspace designers and drafters to an extremely high standard.

TAG has completed numerous airspace definition and protection projects over many years. We are currently engaged or have recently completed relevant airspace tasks with federally controlled airports across Australia, including Gold Coast Airport, Darwin International Airport, Sydney Airport, Brisbane, Hobart, and Adelaide.
